Safety is Always Important!

At Hewitt Young Electric, safety is of the utmost importance, be it in the field, our prefabrication shop, or even in our warehouse. We work hard to equip our employees with the tools they need for success including valuable knowledge on how to perform efficiently, effectively, and of course the safest way possible, in every situation. Each employee receives a copy of our safety manual. They also attend regular safety classes to stay up to date on the latest rules and regulations to keep every job site safe.

Employees in the field participate in regular “Tool Box Talks,” where topics ranging from back safety and fall protection, to ‘caught in between’ hazards are addressed. Procedures have been put in place, following OSHA regulations, that ensure the safety of all parties involved on any job site.

To help ensure the safety of those around us we have included some reminder tips to help eliminate job site injuries and keep our friends and family safe:

  1. Always wear your proper protective apparel and safety gear.
  2. When getting on and off any type of equipment, check to make sure your boots are tied, and clean. Preventing a slipping hazard could save your life!
  3. When lifting heavy equipment, lift with your legs and not your back to avoid strains.
  4. Inspect your work area. Make sure you are fully aware of everything going on around you to avoid accidental injury.
  5. Whenever possible, ALWAYS TURN POWER OFF BEFORE WORKING ON WIRING OR EQUIPMENT. Remember to follow all Lockout/Tagout Procedures.
