Our team of professionals is what makes Hewitt Young Electric not only a fun and exciting place to work, but they create the fabric of our well-knit family atmosphere, who are dedicated to providing you with exceptional electrical services.
This month we are featuring our very own: Jon Desens.
- What is your role at Hewitt Young Electric?
At Hewitt Young, I am a Foreman.
- How long have you been with Hewitt Young?
I have been employed at Hewitt Young for about a year.
- What do you like most about your job?
I find great personal satisfaction in building things. I still get excited when a project gets completed and I can say, “I made that happen.”
- What do you enjoy most about working at Hewitt Young?
I love the sense of “team” or “esprit de corps.” I feel like everyone I’ve worked with so far, from the shop, down to apprentices in the field are working towards the same goal.
- Why do you think customers do business with us?
I believe customers do business with us because we build it right, and we have a great team.
- How do you define success?
I believe is setting a goal, and then accomplishing that goal.
- What do you like to do outside of work?
I like spending time with family. I also like to build things like motorcycles and go-karts. I built an electric go-kart for my son last year!
- What has been your favorite project at Hewitt Young?
I have only been on a few so far, but the Emerson Solar Project this fall was great. It was interesting to work, we had a great crew, and it seemed to go smoothly.
- If you could pick one theme for Hewitt Young to turn into a book about the company what would it be?
If we were to write a book about Hewitt Young it would be about building a team with great people.
- What is on your wish list for the next 10 years with Hewitt Young?
When our company name is mentioned, I would like the first reaction to be, “They are a class act!”
- What is your favorite line from any movie?
“May the force be with you!” – Star Wars!
- If you had one meal to eat for the rest of your life what would it be?
If I could only eat one meal for the rest of my life it would be a trashplate. I have lived 20 years of my life away from the Rochester area, and I can’t get enough of it now that I am back. I love the cheeseburgers, mac salad, and potatoes!
- Is the glass half empty or half full?
Half full – preferable with Three Heads Brewery’s Rochestefarian Wee Havey Ale…
