Our team of professionals is what makes Hewitt Young Electric not only a fun and exciting place to work, but they create the fabric of our well-knit family atmosphere, who are dedicated to providing you with exceptional electrical services.

This month we are featuring our very own: Gregg Spence.

  • What is your role at Hewitt Young Electric?

At Hewitt Young, I am a Foreman. Foreman typically plans, supervise, and perform all phases of installation, maintenance, repair and inspection of electrical systems and service work.

  • How long have you been with Hewitt Young?

I have been an employee at Hewitt Young for a year and a half.

  • What do you like most about your job?

The most fulfilling part of my job would be completing projects. It is always motivating to see a project through from start to finish. I also enjoy creating work relationships and learning new things. Every project is different so being able to take away a new bit of knowledge is very rewarding.

  • What do you enjoy most about working at Hewitt Young?

I love that my hard work never goes unnoticed. We have such an amazing support system here at Hewitt Young – especially from our Project Managers and the Pre-fabrication team. Having a great support system enables me to put my best foot forward and creates a stress-free work environment. Lastly, I enjoy the company of my skilled fellow workers out in the field!

  • Why do you think customers do business with us?

I am positive customers notice the hard work and thought process that goes into each job we do for them. I think that therefore we have so many repeat customers, as well.

  • How do you define success?

Success to me is finishing jobs on time and within our budget, all while working as a team.

  • What do you like to do outside of work?

Outside of work I love spending time with my family, and friends. We enjoying going out to dinner and going on vacations.

  • What has been your favorite project at Hewitt Young?

I would say my favorite project would have to be the work we did over at GCC. Although, I did also enjoy working on the Rochester Public Market. It is so cool to go to some of these finished sites and say that I contributed to the completion.

  • If you could pick one theme for Hewitt Young to turn into a book about the company what would it be?

If we were to write a book about Hewitt Young, the title would be “Safety is the Priority, Quality is the Standard,” because those are the core values I try to base all my work off.

  • What is on your wish list for the next 10 years with Hewitt Young?

I would enjoy possibly being a Project Manager and getting into Project Estimating as well.

  • What is your favorite line from any movie?

“You’re gonna need a bigger boat!” – Roy Scheider as Martin Brody in “Jaws.”

  • If you had one meal to eat for the rest of your life what would it be?

I would gladly pick Chicken Iachine from Mr. Dominic’s. It is sautéed with red peppers in a garlic and oil sauce – yum!

  • Is the glass half empty or half full?

Half full!
