Fall Fest 2018

Background on Fall Fest

The Fall Fest event was started in 2014 with the idea of bringing people together to have fun and to support a good cause. Each year the Fall Fest event supports a new charitable cause that gives back to the community.

This year the Fall Fest event was hosted by Hewitt Young Electric and was held to benefit Carrie Milke & Sophie Rector.

Carrie Milke had been recently diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer. This diagnosis really took a toll on Carrie and resulted in her having to leave work. Although a stage four diagnosis is uncurable, Carrie has decided to remain strong. Shortly after this devastating diagnosis, Carrie was also diagnosed with second primary ovarian cancer. It is through the support of family and friends that Carrie is able to continue to fight her cancers.

Sophie Rector is a young teen living with Rett’s Syndrome, who will undergo a 10 hour back surgery in the coming months. Rett syndrome is a rare genetic neurological and developmental disorder that affects the way the brain develops, causing a progressive inability to use muscles for eye and body movements and speech. It occurs almost exclusively in girls. Due to the complications of Rett’s Syndrome, a 10 hour back surgery could present certain risks, causing her family to apprehensively await her surgery date. Sophie has managed to keep her spirits high through these tough times.

We are ecstatic to announce, together we raised over $9,500.00 to benefit Carrie and Sophie!

Fall Fest 2018

The day started out dreary but that could not stop us! We shared many laughs while enjoying beer, hard cider, and wine dressed as some very creative Halloween characters. Team ‘4-4-1’ won best dressed as they entertained us with their joker costumes. After competing in relay races, pumpkin bowling, gourd boccee, and several other fall-themed games, we wrapped up the day enjoying witnessing our favorite team members compete in both a pie eating and doughnut eating contests that left us in hysterics.
