This month we are featuring our very own: Mike Giantonio

  • What is your role at HY?

At Hewitt Young, I am a Project Manager.

  • What prompted you to start a career in electrical construction?

When I was young I always played around with home and car stereo equipment so naturally, I gravitated towards the trade.

  • How long have you been in the electrical field?

I have been in the electrical field for a total of 19 years!

  • Tell us about your journey.

I began working in the trade right after graduating high school and joined the apprenticeship program in the fall of that year. While working during the day attending school at night, I was able to obtain my journeyman’s license at the age of 23, and a master electrician’s license at 25. I have been involved in all aspects of the trade as far as residential, commercial and industrial installations with a heavy concentration on motor controls. With the experience and knowledge, I have acquired over the years I was able to move up the ladder and eventually earned a position as a project manager.

  • How long have you been with HY?

I have been employed at Hewitt Young for a total of 6 months!

  • What do you like most about your job?

I enjoy seeing a project start from nothing and turn into a fully functioning product.

  • What do you like most about working here?

I like working for Hewitt Young because it is a very family oriented company and everyone shares the same vision of helping the company grow and be successful.

  • Why do you think customers do business with us?

I think customers do business with us because we carry out the same professionalism no matter the cost or size of the project.

  • How do you define success?

My definition of success is knowing that what I am doing is helping others lead a better, happier, healthier life.

  • What motivates you?

Completing a project and seeing it through to the end motivates me.

  • What is your favorite past-time?

I enjoy traveling and spending time with family & friends.

  • What has been your favorite project at HY?

My favorite project has been the Livingston County WWTP.

  • What is on your wish list for the next 10 years with HY?

My wish for the next 10 years is for Hewitt Young to be successful and grow into one of the largest electrical contracting companies in western NY.

  • What is your favorite line from any movie?

“Alright alright alright” – Matthew McConaughey

  • If you had one meal to eat for the rest of your life what would it be?

If I could only eat one meal for the rest of my life it would have to be spaghetti and meatballs.

  • Who is your inspiration?

My grandmother is my inspiration.

  • What makes you, you?

I have a personality that is truly one of kind.
