This month we are featuring our very own: Matt Hickman

• What is your role at Hewitt Young Electric?

My role at HYE is to design and coordinate jobs. After I design and coordinate the job I convert those prints into shop drawings for prefabrication. I also assist in implementing new methods and standards for the warehouse and prefabrication shop.

• How long have you been with Hewitt Young?

I have been employed at Hewitt Young for a little over 3 years.

• What do you like most about your job?

I enjoy seeing designs come to life in the field. I also like the different jobs we are exposed too.

• What do you enjoy most about working at Hewitt Young?

I love the small family environment the most.

• Why do you think customers do business with us?

I think customers do business with us because we are professional and take pride in our work. We stay hungry to gain more work.

• How do you define success?

Success is moving forward. There will be times we fall back but we need to reflect on why we fell back and continue to push forward.

• What do you like to do outside of work?

I like to hang out with family, and friends. I also enjoy traveling.

• What has been your favorite project at Hewitt Young?

Working on the solar projects has been my favorite because of the great amount of prefabrication involved in projects of that nature.

• If you could pick one theme for Hewitt Young to turn into a book about the company what would it be?

If we were to write a book about Hewitt Young it would be about how to be successful.

• What is on your wish list for the next 10 years with Hewitt Young?

I would love to see our company double in size!

• What is your favorite line from any movie?

“I’ll be back!” – Arnold Schwarzenegger – The Terminator

• If you had one meal to eat for the rest of your life what would it be?

If I could only eat one meal for the rest of my life it would be PIZZA!

• Is the glass half empty or half full?

Half full – we are always working to fill it all the way.
