ROCHESTER NEW YORK’S CENTRAL LIBRARY

The Central Library is the headquarters of both the Rochester Public Library and the Monroe County Library System. It occupies two buildings located on South Avenue in downtown Rochester; the Rundel Memorial Library Building, and the newer Bausch & Lomb Public Library Building across the street. The two buildings are joined together beneath South Avenue by the lower link level, which houses the Lower Link Gallery and “Teen Central”. Hewitt Young has had the opportunity to furnish the electrical work for both facilities. The Rundel Memorial Library project is unique because Hewitt Young had to work to maintain the charm of this historic building by installing custom lighting and wiring in ways to preserve the structure and framework of the building. The electric for “Teen Central” proved to be an exciting project because state of the art programmable LED color changing lights were installed.
